Drive Change is a direct service and systems-change organization. We run a paid fellowship for youth returning home from jail and prison to prepare them to join the workforce. We are also creating a community of food business partners that are committed to changing the injustices within the hospitality industry.
A Hospitality for Social Justice (HSJ) Business Partner is committed to challenging its people and its business practices through transformational work, is interested in hiring formerly incarcerated people or other individuals with barriers to employment, and is invested in the development of an internal workplace culture that reflects social justice values and equity.
HSJ Partner Requirements:
Work Trails: Partners must offer 3-5 paid work trail opportunities for Drive Change Fellows during the trail phase of their Cohort
Fellow Placement: Placement is not guaranteed. Fellow placement is 3x a year and is following each Cohort’s (group of 12) Drive Change training. The priority is to find the placement that is a mutual best-fit. Dates will be provided in advance on a yearly basis, with ongoing opportunity for alumni placement, in both Front & Back-of-House positions
HSJ Training Attendance: Leadership team members with decision-making power, and managers that work directly with hourly employees are required to attend a full day training with other like-minded HSJ partners. The training focuses on implicit bias, Americal Legal System education, and anti-racist practices
