DRIVE CHANGE IS AN ECOSYSTEM OF INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT REIMAGINING JUSTICE.

JORDYN LEXTON
CEO/FOUNDER

"Not cut out for the sidelines."

After teaching English at Rikers Island High School for three years, I founded Drive Change in 2014 in response to the racial and class injustice in our criminal justice system. Mass incarceration is the child of Jim Crow and the grandchild of slavery. Food is a unifier; and I saw the way that food + food workplaces could connect people and provide pathways to employment for young adults returning home form jail. After teaching on Rikers, I worked with some brilliant people (including my co-Founders and my mom) to launch a food truck business that would be a platform for a paid Fellowship for young returning citizens: Drive Change was born. I believe everyone is a genius and it is the environmental conditions that either form or erode human potential. I look forward to a future where the phrase “social enterprise” is obsolete because all businesses are designed with social impact in mind.

JAMES STARKS
FELLOWSHIP DIRECTOR

“Rewards and contributions are exactly proportionate."

I get the chance to shape the Drive Change experience of the Fellows by speaking to their core values as well as cultivating and curating a curriculum that will allow the Fellows to flourish as individuals and within society. I am the perfect person for this role because of my humility and confidence, and my ability to display them simultaneously.
